An event planner who helps brides and grooms plan their special day is called a wedding consultant, wedding planner, wedding coordinator or a bridal consultant. This planner specialises in planning weddings professionally.

Using a wedding consultant to plan your wedding day has always been viewed as a luxury that only the rich and famous enjoyed. This is not so much the case anymore and the number of people using wedding planners continues to rise every day.

Planning a wedding can be like a full time job if a bride decides to go it alone. This type of event involves a lot of time with so much to learn and do and often not enough time to do it all. This event planner has to be highly organised and always knows what to do if things go wrong. He/she knows exactly who to contact when the need arises.

A professional wedding planner has to be extremely creative by nature. He or she also needs to have a very good sense of style and know what trends are current and which ones are outdated. A good event planner has lots of connections with the best vendors and works at getting his/her client the best value for their money. There is usually a budget to maintain and endless details tailored to the bride and groom. A wedding planner can also save the bride and groom a lot of money as well as time. This is because they usually know which vendors are reasonably priced and the quality of work involved. The event planner is usually in a better position to negotiate and get discounts from vendors they have worked with before.
Event planners will help their clients avoid disasters at their functions because they oversee all of the operations of the day to the last detail. Should there be an emergency at the event, the planner is usually better prepared to deal with the crisis rather than having the client try to figure out what to do.

The costs involved in hiring such a professional may be surprisingly affordable given the amount of details they have to work with. Planners also tailor their cost according to the client's budget and help them to stay within their budget.

Without a wedding planner on hand, many brides and grooms run themselves ragged as the wedding day approaches. Some couples have even complained of not enjoying their wedding day because of the stress. An event planner comes in handy at this point because the couple has nothing to worry about since all the details are taken care of. The end result of having an event planner or a wedding consultant, in this case, is well worth it. The clients end up with a stress free day and they are able to enjoy every moment of their special occasion.

Christmas

After the magic and the festivities of Christmas Day have ended, your family and friends may not be ready for the magic and the mood of Christmas to end. All the presents have been opened, and dinner has been eaten.
However, the excitement of the day lives on. In my family we often get together with all my in laws and have another Christmas day , the day after Here are some tips for organising the perfect After Christmas party with your family and friends. This is the time we exchange gifts with my in laws and sample some of the Christmas goodies.

Even though all the presents have been given, and dinner has been eaten you can still get together for an evening of spending time with your friends and family. we always did this the night of December 26 All of my parents' friends had children close to the same age as my siblings and me. After Christmas, many people want to party with their friends, but have simply grown tired of Christmas, Christmas music, and all things related to Christmas. This is what we've always referred to as the after party for Christmas. During the after party, you can wear your new outfit you got for Christmas, including any new jewelry and perfume. During the after Christmas party you're still enjoying the spirit of the season by spending time with your friends and family and showing off your new Christmas gifts, and exchanging new gifts with the family we didnt see on Christmas day. We dont normally have another Christmas dinner , just lots of other lovely food, games and drinks
you can still enjoy the magic of Christmas by spending time with family and friends. If however you have seen all the family on Chrismas day, you are still able to have another party with all your friends and family with out exchanging presents.I hope that you will use these suggestions to help make the mood and the magic of Christmas last well beyond Christmas Day.

Halloween Party games

The Black Cat and Her Kittens
A great Halloween game for children which is neither too tricky or too scary for them.
One child is chosen as the black cat and is taken from the room for a moment. The rest of the children then take their places around the room, laying their heads on their arms so that they cannot see anything. The game leader touches several children on their heads, tapping them as the black cat’s kittens. When the black cat returns to the room, the kittens softly meow for their mother, and the mother attempts to locate them by their meows. The first kitten to be found takes the mother cat’s place for the next round, but the rest must keep up their meowing until every last kitten is found.


Apple Pass
This relay Halloween game can also be played with oranges and allows everyone to get up close!
Line up the kids in two rows, the same number of children in each line.
They have to pass the apple to the person behind them only using their chin, without using hands or dropping the apple. If the apple drops a team must start from the beginning again.

Snap Apple
Tie strings around apples and suspend them from the ceiling or a tree branch (we even use the washing line!). You may need to adjust the length once your players arrive so they are at mouth height or lower.
Each player must attempt to eat the entire apple without touching it with their hands. Another prize can be given to the person who gets the first bite out of their apple. It is quite tricky, and you may want to change apples for donuts for younger children.

Marco Pierre White, world renowned chef, serves up a sizzling evening’s entertainment as he is joined by the Sunderland first team players. The event will take place on Tuesday 30th March 2010.

Members of the Sunderland squad will be present with three players chosen to enter the kitchen under Marco’s watchful eye as they help prepare what will be a fantastic dining experience, with each of the three team mates cooking a different course.Participate in the fun and vote for your favourite courses. Budget

Weddings can be very expensive for the happy couple. However if you shopped around you can get the same quality and pay half the price.

What I would ask you do is set your self's a budget on how much you want to spend on each item for Example a wedding cake can cost from about £200.00 to £1,000 and over. The same with the Chair covers a lot of places are charging £6.50 per chair including set up fee's which is a lot of money say even if you had 100 chairs that's £650.00, if you took the time to look around you can get them for less, Xena events hire out chair covers at £3.00 including the sash and setting up and it's the same quality chair covers. It's the same on Flowers, Favours, Wedding Dresses and Accessories.

Top Tips

Planning your big day should be a special time, however I know there is a lot of organising involved. Firstly what you need to decide on is when you are getting married and what kind of ceremony you are having? Church or Civil. If your having a Civil Ceremony will you be having it in the hotel or in the registry office. Once that is sorted you can get started on planning the rest of your wedding.

You will need to send out your invitations out in time so you can let all your Family and friends now the date of your wedding.

Why Xena?

Now we have Christmas and New-Year over with it's back to work. I often get asked what does Xena mean and why I have chosen Xena as the name for my business.

Xena (Warrior Princess) is an American television series,which was written by director - producer Robert Tapert, Xena was played by Lucy Lawless. However Xena is also a girls name and in Greek it means Hospitality which I thought would be perfect for my business.

It took me 8 months of looking in to the business before I started trading in May 2009.

Cocktail Master Class ( Zurich Christmas Party )

Xena Events were pleased when asked by Zurich Assurance LTD if we could organise the Zurich Christmas Party, they were looking for something different that everyone would remember and most of all be able to enjoy.

We came up with a Cocktail Master Class for them, which allowed each member of the party to get behind a licensed Bar at The Living Room in (Newcastle upon Tyne) to make their own cocktails. after 2 1/2 hours of great fun, lots of Cocktail making and drinking this was followed by a sit down meal for them.

We also had a professional photographer there to capture the great moments and fun which will be remembered by all in years to come.
